As
China is such a vast nation climate changes depending on which Province you
visit. It has cold areas, hot areas, desert and aquatic areas, in fact it has
nearly all kinds of weather found around the world.Summer in China can be said
to be defined by the southern monsoon winds which create a warm moist climate,
while in Winter the Siberian winds from the north cause a mostly dry and bitterly
cold climate.
This aside, the geography features of each Province play a significant role in forming regional weather patterns. China has regions in many of the different weather zones. Two regions that can be taken as examples are the Nanling Mountains which experience almost rainforest conditions all year round, wet and hot, and the Yangtze River valley which experiences the four distinct seasons, quite like much of Northern Europe.
In the North East of China the winters are long and hard and the summers are all too brief. At the extremes in China’s Provincial weather are the Provinces of Heilongjiang and Hainan Island. Heilongjiang is trapped in perpetual winter while Hainan Island never sees the end of Summer. By far the majority of China’s rainfall is in the North West where the winters are cold and the summers are hot.
