Mauritania

Mauritania, officially called the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, is a country in the Maghreb northwest Africa, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean in the west and Western Sahara in the north. It covers an area of 1,030,700 square kilometers and has an estimated population of over 3.3 million people. A majority of its population still depends on agriculture and livestock for a livelihood. Mauritania has extensive deposits of iron ore, which account for almost 50% of total exports. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mauritania in 1965, the two counties have enjoyed smooth and steady development.
