Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan, officially the Republic of Uzbekistan, is situated in central Asia between the Amu Darya and Syr Darya Rivers, the Aral Sea, and the slopes of the Tien Shan Mountains. It covers an area of 447,400 square kilometers and has an estimated population of more than 28 million people. It was formerly part of the Soviet Union, and has been an independent republic since December 1991. China and Uzbekistan established diplomatic relations on January 2nd, 1992. Since then the two countries have been conducting highly effective cooperation in many fields.
