Changsha is the capital of Hunan Province, and also a city that enjoys rapid industrialization alongside cultural and historical relics. In ancient times, Changsha was a base for both Chu and Xiang; it is also home to many historical figures, including Qu Yuan, Jia Yi, Zhu Xi, Zeng Guofan, Mao Zedong, and Liu Shaoqi. Guests can enjoy Five Sacred Mountains of Daoism and the beautiful scenery at the World Heritage Site, Wu Ling Yuan. However, the most famous and interesting historical site is perhaps the Mawang Dui tomb collection, which dates back to the Western Han Dynasty.
Situated between mountain ranges, with the Xiangjiang River nearby, Changsha enjoys a relatively mild climate, with an annual temperature of 17.5oC, 1387 mm of rainfall, and a frost-free period of 280 days. Additionally, the city is rich in agricultural and mineral resources, including coal, iron, copper, porcelain clay, manganese and tungsten etc. Changsha's ideal location---surrounded by the beautiful Yuelu, Dawei, and Weishan Mountain as well as the Xiangjiang and Liuyang River, and the Juzizhou scenic spot, all make Changsha a great tourist spot to relax and enjoy the best China has to offer.
