Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, is a splendid city that integrates rapid industrialization with over 2,500 years of history. Formerly an undeveloped town before China's reform and opening, this ancient city is rapidly becoming one of China's biggest and best cosmopolitan cities. Chengdu generally enjoys a mild climate and environment uncommon in other cosmopolitan cities in China. Chengdu locals are also renowned as more relaxed than their other Chinese city counterparts. At night, guests can see residents flooded in the streets drinking tea, playing mahjong, and violently slamming down cards in a three-player game known as "Dou Di Zhu".
