With more than 3,000 years' history, Chongqing is a booming economic center in Southwest China and a major water transportation route for the region. Also known as the "mountain city", Chongqing is surrounded by mountains and rivers, situated in the "dragon tail" of the Yangtze economic belt, right near the inland of the Three Gorges Dam. Chongqing enjoys a fairly mild climate year round, with an annual temperature between 18/19oC. The main crops grown in Chongqing are paddy rice, corn, tuber crops (sweet potato, potato) and wheat.
In Fengjie County, citrus is grown and is renowned for its sweet flavor and high quality. In the Wuling and Qingbai mountainous regions, local farmers make their fortunes through producing kidney bean, berberine, and southernwood. Since China's "reform and opening" period, the city of Chongqing, the nation's youngest municipality under the central government, has tranformed into an economic powerhouse full of business opportunities and more potential development.
