Erhai lake

The Erhai Lake is located in the Dali Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province, about two kilometers east from Dali City. Erhai lake gets its name from its shape which looks like an ear (ear means Er in Chinese). It stretches 42 kilometers from north to south and 3.9 kilometers from east to west, covering an area of more than 250 square kilometers, with the deepest point 21.5 meters. Erhai Lake is the largest highland lake next to Dianchi and the seventh biggest fresh water lakes in China. The lake is like a crescent lying between Cangshan and Dali city as seen from Cangshan Mount. The Erhai Lake is reputed as "the pearl on the plateau" for its beautiful scenery which attracting lot of travelers to come and visit.
Another saying describing the beautiful scene of Cangshan and Erhai 'Silver Cangshan and Jade Erhai'. In a sunny day, the crystal waters of Erhai Lake and the snow mantled Cangshan Mount radiate with each other. The famous travel sites of the Erhai Lake include Three Islets(Jinsuo, Chiwen, and Yuji), Four Lands(Malian, Mandarin Duck, Qingsha, and Daguanpeng) and Nine Curves(Lotus, Huge Crane, Panji, Phoenix Wing, Dill, Ox Horn, Bozuo, Gaopin, Soaring Crane).
