Jinci Temple

Jinci Temple is located southeast of Taiyuan City. Its history can be traced back to the Western Zhou Dynasty. The Jinci Temple is one of the most famous in the area, known for its ancient trees, cultural relics, beautiful scenery and most of all, its ancient temple, a rarity in China. The Jinci Temple complex is large and will keep any visitor occupied for several hours. There are three famous sites in the Jinci Temple: The Never Aging Spring, The Figures of The Maidservants and The Zhou Cypress.
The Figures of the Maidservants were made during the Song Dynasty out of colored clay and are uniquely sculpted in unique lifelike poses. They are located in Saint Mother Hall. This is the oldest building in the Jinci Temple and is one of the most famous along with Fish Pond, Offerings Hall and Flying Bridge. They represent a new era in Chinese architecture.
