Located in the north of Sichuan Province, Jiuzhaigou is full of picturesque scenery of green lakes, waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, forests and wild animal and plant reserves. The city was admitted by UNESO into the World Natural Heritages in 1992, the World Biosphere Reserve in 1997, and is also certified as sustainable by Green Globe 21. The name of the city originated from nine Tibetan villages scattered throughout the valley. Jiuzhaigou covers a total area of 280 square miles, endowed with snow-capped mountains, layered waterfalls, pristine lakes, and lush forests, with elevation ranging from 6,000 to 16,000 feet. The city is one of the few places where you can see the giant panda in its natural habitat and the golden monkey.
