Qutang Gorge

Qutang Gorge is the shortest of all the Three Gorges at just 8 kilometers long and many consider this particular gorge to be the most dramatic out of them all. The gorge starts at the White Emperor City in the west and ends at Daxi Stream in the east. Throughout the gorge there are steep cliffs and the Meng Liang staircase from the Song Dynasty can also be seen. Being the shortest and also the narrowest of the three gorges, Qutang Gorge is rightly famous for its steepness and overall magnificence. This combination of narrow canyons among high mountains with several switchbacks is often considered the most beautiful of all.
