The Hakka Tulous are round and built using only mud bricks and wood. The Tulous are able to retain heat in the winter months and keep cool in the summer. There were built according to the ��ba gua' style - round on the outside and octagonal on the inside. Due to its architecture, the tulous are no more than 5 stories tall; however, the curve of the outside helps the rain slide off from the top. The thickness of the walls also maintains the sturdiness of the structure. These ancient houses are one style of architecture that is unique in China and a great tourist destination.
