Wuyi Shan is located in northern Fujian and is known for its beautiful forests and rivers. One of the highlights of Wuyi Shan is floating down the Jiuqu stream on manmade bamboo rafts. There are several different peaks in the Wuyi Shan area that all have their own unique shape. Wuyi Palace, located at the mountain, was built in the 7th century for emperors to conduct sacrificial ceremonies. The mountain and the temple is important to Daoism and its followers. The present city, Wuyishan City received its name in 1990.
