The North Mausoleum, built in 1643 for Emperor Huangtaji and his wife Empress Xiaoduanwen, combines ancient Manchurian and Chinese architectural styles. The Mausoleum is located north of Shenyang and covers a total of 4.5 million sq. meters. There are three main parts to the Mausoleum and inside there are several buildings: Baocheng Town, Dahong Gate, Yueyacheng Town, Daming Pavilion and several others. Inside the mausoleum there are also Steles that are written in five different languages.
