- The town of Lijiang is separated into two tonws divided by Lion Hill. One section is called the New Town, which was created over 40 years ago, and the Old Town, over 850 years go. The old part of town has beautiful ancient architecture and got its name, Dayan, ¡®Big Inkstone', because of the way it is shaped. This place is also a center for the Naxi people.
