The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain has 13 peaks and on the mountain are several different kinds of plants and animals. There are over 6,500 different kinds of plants on the mountain, including 400 types of trees in 20 primeval forest communities. There are more than 60 kinds of roses, 50 species of azalea, 20 species of lilies, 8 species of poppies, 5 species of camellia, 6 kinds of crabapples, 50 types of gentian and 4 kinds of peonies. Every season, different kinds of flowers bloom and almost throughout the entire year one can see flowers in bloom. There is a rare tea that also grows here, Wild Snow Tea, which is known to help those with high blood pressure. Scientists say that the mountain formed over 230 million years ago from ancient geosynclines when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. The mountain formed the present shape around 600,000 years up to 12,000 years ago. There are frequent storms that occur at the mountain's five primary peaks.
