Beijing's Capital Museum is located in the second largest Confucius Temple in Beijing, situated on Guozijian Street, and opened to the public since 1981. The temple was built in the sixth ear of the Yuan dynasty in 1302, and has been an important temple in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties as the major site for the emperor's sacrifice to Confucius.

As a major cultural site, the relics found for display in the capital museum would have held special importance, and they are a display of the rarity and elaborate works of the Chinese culture, including bronze ware, ceramics, stoneware, calligraphy and paintings. The exhibition in the museum dates back thousands of years in the past, right up until the year 1949 and the end of the dynasties, and traces scenes from Beijing's development through pictures, models and beautiful cultural relics.

The Capital Museum has held hundreds of different exhibitions on the history and cultural relics of China, as well as the revolutionary history and folk customs of the Chinese people. It has also held international exhibitions, in countries such as Japan, America, Singapore and Malaysia, in order to extend international communication and understanding between the different countries and China. Currently, the Capital museum is one of the best displays of China's long and deep cultural history for both foreign and domestic people.
