Provincial Museum

Gansu Provincial Museum, a local comprehensive museum, regarded as the best museum in the Gansu province, is located at Qilihe of Lanzhou City. The Museum used to be the Science Education Hall of Gansu built in 1939. After several name changes, the Museum got its present name in 1956 and was opened to the public in 1958. With more than 16 acres large, the museum is made up of three separate buildings that are linked by hallways and divided even further in an upstairs and downstairs. There are several different collections inside the museum, boasting 75,000 cultural relics, ranging from natural specimens to historical,
revolutionary and national heritages, including murals from the Wei and Jin periods, bronze artifacts and pottery from the Neolithic Period, among other things. The majority of the archeological findings are also kept in the museum.
