China Brief Introduction

China is located in the east of Asia, with the Pacific Ocean to the east. The total land mass of China is the third largest, but contains the greatest number of people. The country stretches over 9,596,960 square kilometers, (roughly 3.7 million square miles). From east to west it covers thee Heilongjiang and Wusuli Rivers to the Pamirs Mountains, with north to south covering the Heilongjang River to Hainan Island and the Zengmu Reef, off the coast of Malaysia. China is rich in natural resources, however, one of its most commonly known natural resources is its extensive population, with about 1.3 billion people by the end of 2000. Though it is the largest population, it is spread around the country unevenly, with the majority of people living in the east of the country. The average household size is 3 people; with the average density of population in most of the country is 119 people per square kilometer.
There are few safer countries in the world to travel in than China. The strict laws combined with the friendly and welcoming nature of the Chinese had led to a country with a very low crime rate. Serious crime against foreigners is virtually unheard of and even late at night tourists has little to worry about. Pick pocketing and other petty crimes such as purse snatching are somewhat more common, especially in crowded areas such as markets, on the subway or at tourist spots so it is best to be careful in such places and keep an eye on your belongings. When traveling with luggage it is recommended to keep a watch over it at all times. If you have any problems they should be reported to the nearest police officer or security guard who will be only too happy to help.
