Zhangjiajie Travel Guide

Here is a guide to Zhangjiajie. Situated in the northwest of Hunan province, Zhangjiajie is best known for its unique and diverse array of topography, including mountainous regions, upland areas, plains, and Karst rock areas, etc. Sixty percent of the city's 1.5 million person strong population are Tujia, Miao and Bai minorities–-giving the area a unique cultural feel. It enjoys the reputation of 'Original Picture on Mountain and River of China'. This wonderland is covered with dense forests and is considered Mother Nature's Oxygen Bar. Within the park, you will find there are many things to do in Zhangjiajie. The wildlife in the National Forest Park is one of the main draws: giant salamanders, rhesus monkeys and golden pheasants are among the usual suspects you might stumble upon. Areas worth to see in Zhangjiajie include Zhangjiajie National Forest Park (known as China's first national forest park), Suoxiyu Natural Resource Reserve, and Tianzi Mountain Natural Resource Reserve. Since an air route linking Zhangjiajie and Hong Kong opened last April, more and more visitors take their holidays in Zhangjiajie.
